
Wired News has picked on the ‘Municator’, the ultra low cost PC from China I posted a few months ago. They seem rather optomistic about it, but I think it seems to be sliding towards vapourware.
I’m not sure why there is still no sign of them shipping but my bet would be that they can’t get the price as low as they are hoping, or get the backing to start production.

Seems like a good idea that will hit a fairly small market. Apparently they are popular in the UK? I’ve not seen one.

At £1500+ for the good ones, these lawnmower robots are playthings for ultra-rich kids, or tools for a very specific job. Which means that they are a sign of the future. Like early dishwashers, you can see these are clearly going to hit a market penetration price sometime soon, and then everyone will have them. (plus the clueless sellers will finally catch on to marketing them to hayfever sufferers…. can’t believe they missed that!)
There’s going to be some subtle changes to both the robots and to their environment too.
