UPDATED: NationMaster now completely free
The powerful stats site Nationmaster has been completely free of charge since November 1st. Lots of interesting info for stats geeks.
Their website is at http://www.nationmaster.com/.
UPDATE: I have been made aware of some possible unethical behaviour by this site. The address is no longer a link, since I wouldn’t want to boost their rankings if this is true.
You may wish to look at the comment on this post before using the site or look at the Wikipedia article on Nationmaster

I would beware of nationmaster. See http://tdaxp.blogspirit.com/archive/2005/11/05/censored-by-nationmaster-in-retaliation-for-a-negative-revie.html, http://cobuyitaphobia.blogspirit.com/archive/2005/11/09/nationmaster-s-wikipedia-cobuyitaphobia.html, http://nationmasterwatch.blogspirit.com/, and others for more,

That’s interesting. I only recently became aware of Nationmaster, and was not aware of any bad feeling. I did read your links but I was not able to find a good summary of the problem. Was there a transaction they handled wrongly?
As far as their encyclopedia section goes, Wikipedia’s ‘Mirrors and Forks’ page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Mirrors_and_forks/Mno#Nationmaster) shows their copied pages to be nearly, but not quite complient.

akaDruid,
NationMaster effectively folded. I sent their partial refund (and a bit more) to the EFF. The link (http://tdaxp.blogspirit.com/archive/2005/11/10/natonmaster-folds-kind-of.html) is to a somewhat humorous summary of the conclusion. My post on SimonWorld (http://simonworld.mu.nu/archives/131220.php) gives some more detail, and generated a comment from someone having similar problems.
I am adding this site to the NationMasterWatch blogroll. If you don’t want to be on it that’s OK too — I’ll remove you if so.
Thanks for updating your post

I looked into tdaxp’s blogs and it looks like crap to me. Nationmaster has been a great help for my assignment at school.
