Well, don’t try and install Fedora Core 2 with a doubtful CDROM is tonights little thought for the day. Or else you need more patience than me.
I’m on my third or fourth attempt to install it now. Overall, I must have made around 20 attempts with various flavours of Linux. I got close with Gentoo, but it’s ‘configure everything before you start’ approach got me stumped.
I’m looking at a blank blue screen at the moment with the inspiring words ‘Welcome to Fedora Core’ at the top. Its been there a long time now.
I have to decide whether I need to wait a bit longer or select another option from menu that says ‘Install Source’. The options were Local CDROM, HD, NFS Share or HTTP/FTP. I plumped for Local CDROM since I’ve got four the things I’ve burnt off here, plus a rescue disk so I figure what it wants must be on there somewhere. It span the disk up OK, but hasn’t come up with anything else yet. I’m gonna go play some UT2k3….
woah….
I suppose it looks a little fake to interupt yourself when you’re typing, but it really did just do something while I’m writing this. It says ‘the fedora core cd was not found in any of your cd drives’. now i now its there cos it just booted from it. so what does it want? shall I insert the next in the series of disks and hope? or choose a different option? hmmm…..
It would appear that the site in the previous entry is just one of a series of sites. There is an index to them here:
The Rocks Project
This looks like a really handy site for getting my replacement server running.

Another interesting discussion of allofmp3.com:
ALLOFMP3.com Legal? – 3cx.log
Again, not legal advice, but looks promising.
On a side note, I looked to see if I could email the Citizens Advice Bureau about this. It looks like they could probably advise about it; but they do not accept emails. There is a telephone number and address/opening times available for each branch, so I may try giving them a buzz.

Mostly muddying the waters rather than clarifying things.
How, in the age of the internet, can these clowns do things like this and stay in business?
Mistral Telecom – Nokia data cable ?39.99 web only, normal price ?49.99
Ebuyer – same frickin cable, ?4.69
I feel really sorry for anyone that bought one from Mistral Telecom. Next time I want to buy stuff with a 900% markup, I know where to go. I’m surprise they can keep a straight face when people buy stuff from them.
apparently ‘We pride ourselves on our enviably high levels of attention to our customer needs as well as our value propositions both via the Internet and our Business to Business channels ‘. In other words, we target business customers cos they don’t care how much they pay when its someone elses money. man…. that was almost a rant…
I’ve uploaded a new page to my site, with pictures of the 5 cars and 1 bike that I would choose when I won the lottery. I don’t play the lottery, but the picture should give you something to drool over.
My friend told me afterwards that the rules only allow for 4 car choices, but I was never one for arbitary rules anyway.

As a side effect of looking for a free IDE for VB, I discovered this rather handy website, which lists loads of free tools for developers and other related stuff. Easily the most complete site I have seen for this sort of thing.
thefreecountry.com: Free Programmers’ Resources, Free Webmasters’ Resources, Free Security Resources
Could you use a Free IDE for C# and VB.NET? I sure could. I may be doing some work in VB.NET soon, and I don’t have money to spend on the MS IDE, even if I wanted to support them. #develop (pronouced sharpdevelop) is GPL and looks pretty good from the screenshot. I’ll know more when I’ve downloaded it, but it looks promising already.
Heres your link:

I wish I’d known about this site when I was looking for a new mobile.
